Fuel continues to be in short supply in Lilongwe as motorists remains in queues across filling stations in search of the fuel.
The problem of fuel scarcity has arise in some filling stations within Lilongwe which has revealed that people the are not sleeping instead they spent their time looking for fuel even at midnight.
At Meru filing station, Bwaila Hospital Simso Filing Station and Puma at Gulliver in area49, the story is the same as everyone is hoping to get at least a litre of fuel to get them home.
Felix Ndalema, says he has been on the queue at Meru filling station from 3 pm yesterday on Thursday till today still waiting to refuel.
Ndalema added that he had to leave home early to find fuel so that tomorrow he should not struggle to start his business as a tax driver.
Famers in Kasungu have shown their concern over their livestock following the announcement that Agriculture District officer has made about the disease that has affected the area.
Kasungu District Agriculture Office has suspended any movement of animals following cases of suspected foot and mouth outbreak in the district.
Chikumbutso Liwonde who is the Chief Agriculture Officer for Kasungu has confirmed the development, saying the outbreak has been confirmed at Mkanakhothi, Kaluluma, Kasungu Chipala and Chamama Extension Planning Areas.
Liwonde says the office has also suppended issuance of livestock movement permits until the situation normalises, effective yesterday.
Kasungu District is the second district to be confirmed about the disease following Mzimba District which have been affected by the disease which has caused the death of livestock in the district.
The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), the finance development arm of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia says its soft loans to Malawi exceeding U$36 million (Approximately MWK37 billion) underline the fund’s commitment to support Malawi’s development needs in key areas of health, energy and transport.
SFD Director for Eastern and Southern Africa Azzam Al-Barrak was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of Phalombe District Hospital by President Lazarus Chakwera.
SFD has provided funding for the hospital through a U$12 million (MWK12.4 billion) soft loan to Malawi Government.
Engineer Al Barrak said the latest round of funding for Phalombe brings SFD’s total commitment to Malawi to more than U$36 million (MWK37.3 billion) for different development projects for the country in recent years.
“Phalombe Hospital will serve residents in the rural areas of the Phalombe region—by addressing poverty, combatting diseases, and reducing mortality rates among children,” said Al Barrak in a statement by SFD.
Famers in Mzimba District have expressed their fear with the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the district.
A suspected outbreak of foot and mouth disease has been reported this month. Mzimba Chief Agriculture Officer Misheck Chawala has confirmed the development on Thursday saying this poses a threat to 170, 000 cattles across the district.
Chimwemwe Dhovu one of the farmers has expressed his worries over the issue saying that this will affect farming in the district.
“I have already vaccinated my pigs, cattle and goats that I have , but though i have vaccinated I have fear that this will affect my farming” said Ndhovu. Foot and Mouth Disease is a highly contagious viral disease that mostly affected cattles.

One of the concerned citizen, James banda who owns James Welding shop has said that life is tough for him to bring food on the table hence he depend on electricity in older for him to feed his family.
“Life is now very hard for me to feed my family and i am struggling to make money beside that the country is facing with the problem of black out, I do relay on electricity to make money” Ephasized Banda.
He further said that almost each and everything that they use to buy and even relay in each and every day its price has been increased double compared in past. He mentioned commodities like sugar, soap, bread just to mention few.
Malawians are still having Questions without answers in their mind on how will they get out this problem of blackout and some even have fear that they are going to loose businesses and some even have even lost their customers.

One of the business operators Towera Dabwa, who is also a farmer who really on electricity in older to raise the rayers, has said that it is now a big challenge for her to raise chickens hence she said that chickens to grow it require power of electricity but this is not like that due to black outs that the country is facing.
“In almost every 3 weeks I always manage to raise almost 500 chickens but this is not like that as i am struggling to raise it due to black out and this has become a challenge for me as a farmer and my family too” Ephasized Dabwa.
Thousands of Malawians have reached at a point of thinking that they should not vote again because they think that it’s their vote that made those rulling now and it’s the same vote that made themselves to live in porvety and face challenges like what they are facing right now.
During elections campaign Tonse Alliance promised Malawian for a better life and a happy life but the promise has been turned into tears for malawians as they live the life that they didn’t expect to live during the time they were voting.
The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) continues to work tirelessly around the clock towards improving the fuel supply situation in the Country.
Malawi have been affected with the problem of fuel scarcity in the past few weeks but this soon will become a history where Helen Buluma who is the Deputy Chief Excutive Officer for NOCMA has assured that soon Malawi will have enough fuel.
“A fleet of fuel tankers continue to cross into the Country through Songwe border from Dar es salaam, Tanzania and soon we will have fuel in all fuel pump stations” said Buluma.
In a couple of days, more tankers will be entering the Country from Beira and Nacala ports in Mozambique, this has made Malawians to pull up their faith that they will no longer be spending days for them to access fuel.
Government has announced new pump price that shows a 10℅ decrease from the previous Petro price of K1946 to the new price of K1746. Diesel price remains the same.
The Tonse government inherited Petro price from the previous Administration at K650 and increased its price to about K2, 000 in 2 years representing 208℅. Today’s announcement of new Petro price to 1746 means that the regime has managed Petro increase by 169℅ from the previous Administration.
Beside that the government has reduced the price of petrol thousands of Malawians has shown their concerns as the don’t even know where they can assess fuel hence they are still facing with the problem of fuel scarcity.
One of the fuel attendant Jane Banda belong to Meru filling station has further added that its now three weeks while they are staying at home and she doesn’t know the future of her job which thinks that she might end up loosing a job.
“I have been at home almost three weeks now due to fuel scarcity that our company is facing and we have been told to stay at home until we will be told to return nack to work” said Banda.
Malawians have different ideas where some says that does this mean that things can start working just because the stability has been stabilized only in petrol.
Few weeks ago fuel scarcity affected several parts of the country but now a number of filling stations have fuel even though it’s not enough to meet the current demand for fuel.
